Last Week's Picks:
Tough race at Tampa.
Easy race at Tampa is Race 7, #4 Win Win Win is the winner, winner, winner. Think he rolls from off the pace in a field filled with speed.
In here, there are many contenders. Twixt and Shout and Warm have wins over the track.
Another Time made three starts on Tapeta at Woodbine. She looked pretty good and regular rider Rafael Hernandez is listed to ride. 2 works, seems ready to go, Seems a top contender in here
Into Trouble was awful in last at Keeneland, tries to rebound and back to a sprint, top local rider named, worked a swift 47 and 2 over track on 12/31/18, best of 53.
Gold Credit won debut at Keeneland, caught a sloppy track at Churchill, 6 local works, trainer only 2 for 21 to start meet.
Souper Escape moves from turf to dirt, cuts back in distance, quick recent work, Pimental rides, he rides for same connections in Race 7 (He rides WIN WIN WIN), think he is here for that one and this one would be extra.
Bella Ciao cuts back in distance, not sold on her at low odds.
Could go many ways in here, I'll go with the Woodbine shipper, Another Time, 1st dirt try, decent odds.
Race: SM F&M Turf
13 are entered here. Starship Jubilee is 11 for 25, has 7 wins at GP and adds Castellano, she does draw wide and just lost in the claiming crown, a race she was supposed to win. I'll side against at low odds.
Southern Sis is the pick, 8/1 ML, she runs late, nice late kick, Irad should get her going late and close with a rush. She should not be too far back though. Decent works, 2 wins from 3 starts on course.
Mrs. Ramona G just won on Jan 1. New 4yo is 4/7. Meets better here.
Shanghai Starlet gets Prado riding for Pletcher, Have not seen them team up too often. She can run late and outrun her 15/1 ML. Turf is a question mark.
Picara is another for Pletcher. She beat Southern Sis in last start. Pletcher and Fawkes both have 3 runners in here.
Race: SM Classic
Not sure they give away millions anymore for these state bred stakes. 200K here for 8 FL breds going a Mile and an Eighth.
It took quite some time, but Forevamo finally got his 3rd win last out at Zia Park. Asmussen sends to FL, he seems to like the distance, now a 6yo, he picks up Castellano to ride. He does have 8 2nds, worth a look at 6/1.
Dalmore looks ok, decent local works, should be near pace from the rail.
Transistor seems overmatched, 30/1 about right. 2/19
Mr. Jordan is 1 for 17 at GP and 9 for 17 elsewhere (GP WEST / CALDER mainly). He has 6 2nds at Gulfstream, 0 for 5 at distance, I'm against here.
Weisser has never been distance, would seem to be forwardly placed, only 10 starts, meets tougher in here.
Noble Drama lost by 13 to runaway winner World of Trouble in last at Tampa. Unknown at distance, usually in the money, should have somewhat of a closing kick. Worth a look.
Jay's Way won this race last year, off form lately, likely near pace, tough to take off recent efforts.
Souper Tapit has made 5 turf starts, 1 on the all weather and 7 dirt starts, He looks to have 3 off the turf starts in last 5 dirt starts, usually near pace, only 3 wins from 14 starts, at 2/1 he seems a bad price in here. He beat a small field in an off the turf affair last out. I'll pass at low odds in here.
I'll take Forevamo in here, race does not excite, but he just won and maybe he can repeat at distance, Asmussen sees fit to send and has Castellano on board, 6/1 would work.
|Win:||Hog Creek Hustle|
No longer an overflow field of 15 as there are 3 expected scratches, 14 and 15 are out due to wide posts. Admire may be a horse to watch, keep an eye out for next start. The #4 Mr. Money is expected to scratch due to illness.
Tackett is 2/3 and goes for Bravo and Stidham, He figures with a chance, horse he beat last out Owendale looked good winning an allowance race on Thursday. 2 works since last win, At 6/1 certainly provides a decent price.
Hog Creek Hustle has a quick work on Jan 12 (47 & 4) He should run late, willing to give him a chance, Geroux takes over from Laniere who is on Chase the Ghost. He was a bit slow into his last race at 6F, maybe improves in 3rd start off layoff, plus at the distance.
Roliand is another that should run late. He should outrun his odds.
War of Will figures to go at much less than 6/1, He won last in the slop over Locally Owned who is still trying for his first win (goes in Race 5 at 6F). Not sold on this guy at low price, but does like a wet track.
Plus Que Parfait almost won last, Leparoux stays, figures to have a chance, just not for me in here. Manny Wah is on the outside and may try to get to the front early. Tight Ten may also add to early pace.
Interesting race, tough to pick, track conditions unknown, I will go with a price and take Hog Creek Hustle, He may just be the one running fastest late, if there is pace, he should come a running.
Other FG picks, Race 7 - COMEDIAN- 2nd start, lost at wire in debut, now goes a bit further.
